So since my last post where The Spinners beat Killamarsh Derbyshire Arrows with an exciting last second buzzer beater they have gone on a 6-1 run leaving them at the top of the lspinners_arrows_028eague for the Christmas break. At the beginning of the year it was clear that this newly formed Lancashire team would be title contenders and they haven’t disappointed. Alongside injuries, coach changes, players missing and many other mishaps the team has come together strong over the last half of the season to put them in a great position to achieve what they set out to do. A small stumble in Loughborough where they were narrowly defeated wasn’t enough to put them off though and it showed as the team pulled out 3 tough away wins in London. After a well deserved Christmas break they are raring to go and cant wait to put on a show against London Lituanica for there home fans. London Lituanica recently got promoted and are also considered to be one of the stronger teams in the league so this will be a game you cant miss!

With so many games, practices and hours travelling spent together its hard not to form a close-knit group. This probably showed best with the last 2 away wins of the season. After an early start (8:00am) and a 4/5hour journey down to London The Spinners faced off against Eastside Eagles who had a good record having upset some of the better teams in the league. They knew it would be a tough game especially without the likes of Andre Gayle and Josh Houghton. The warm up was rubbish and there seemed to be a lack of intensity running through the team. After a poor team performance the game was extremely close and needed a special spark to win it, queue Ste Gayle. Ste was outstanding all game but saved the best for last, with under a minute left he hit a deep contested 3 to put the game out of reach. He ended up with 30 points to top scoring for Lancashire. With another game being played the following day the team decided to do something to help liven up the warm up. What now seems to be the teams song got blared through Aitor Estradas expensive speakers from the bench as they warmed up against Brixton Topcats. O.T. Genasis’ – Coco played as each Spinner took it in turn to dunk the ball (or attempt too) and hype everyone up for the game! This seemed to work for Mark Rangeley as he ended the game with 30+ points making it a season high for him.

With the second half of the season getting underway this Saturday The Spinners need a big crowd to help them get back off to old ways with a win at home! This truly is a game that cant be missed, for a fun night involving entertainment, high-flying dunks and deep 3 point shots make sure you come down and support your local team! Bring your friends and family too! 5:40pm tip off at the Castle Leisure Centre this Saturday (10th Jan) , see you all there!half_time_042
