I am sure many of you reading this also attended our charity launch night back in September for #SuperJosh and his Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity. The Superhero we all know and love sadly passed away last week and so we say sleep tight to him. Josh was always smiling and happy, he enjoyed many sports and is part of many sport teams around the Manchester area including the Lancashire Spinners. Needless to say the Spinners all vowed to win this game for Josh and did so with just a bit of superhero luck towards the end of the game which no doubt came from #SuperJosh himself.
Facing off against a tough Killamarsh Derbyshire Arrows team the Spinners narrowly won by 1 point on the buzzer 89-88. The winning shot came from Andre Gayle who after having a great fourth quarter stepped up once again to sink a step back 3 pointer. With 1.4 secs left on the clock the Arrows had just enough time to try and get a shot away, however after some mischievous play from Mark Rangeley an opposing player was called for an off the ball foul which led to the Spinners closing out the game. With inspiration from Josh The Spinners stuck at it as a team throughout the entire game and when it mattered most players stepped up to make big plays. Overall it was an exciting game filled with lead changes, dunks and one very important shot!
With #SuperJosh serving as inspiration for the Spinners we will continue to play for him the rest of the year hoping to rack up many more exciting victories! With that being said there are many things you can do to help propel the charity forward and give help & hope to children with brain tumours & post surgery disabilities with advice, support & financial solutions. One thing I encourage you all to do is the ‘Thumbs Up Cake Selfie’ . Basically Josh loved cake and so we are trying to get a thumbs up cake selfie going viral, alongside this you can make a donation to support the campaign and raise awareness for this amazing charity – You can donate by texting SJBT13 followed by the amount £1, £2, £5 or £10 to 70070.
This Friday will be a celebration of Joshua Wilson’s life at the Village Hotel Bury, please if you can come along then do so – just remember to bring your smile! (click here for more info). The 22nd November is our next home game, I hope that by then all you Spinners fans will have contributed to the ‘thumbs up cake selfie’ and will come along to support us with a big thumbs up!
